A change

I was 14 and I had a Rieju MRT 50 that me and my dad bought together second hand very cheap because it had some problems. We also do motocross and we are our own mechanics so we know quite a bit about bikes so we knew that we could fix the problems, it ran perfectly.
When I turned 15 and got my licence I bought a cheap eBay 70cc cylinder and a 21mm carb for it... long story short, it was one of the fastest scooters on the small island of Menorca, it ran super good and everything just went well.
Then I god bored of motocross styled bikes for the road so I decided to sell her and get a gp style bike.
After searching on the internet for nice looking 50cc gp bikes I found that I liked the Derbi Gpr 50.
I found one on the island in my price range.

This is the bike, I wasn't so keen on the colours but the shape of the bike was beautifull.

The positive and the negative...

That same week me and my dad went to go see the bike.
The paint was worse than I thought but I wanted to paint it anyway...
The diskbrakes were in good nick, the pads were practicly new and all the electric bits worked.
Then I test rode it and it ran briliantly.
My dad still didn't like it as it was very old and he thought that it woud be problem after problem...

Photo shoot

I went to school that morning on my old bike.
And as  it was a festive day for the island I had time to go out of school sell my old bike and buy the new one in about 2 hours and then I went back to school.
After school I went for a ride around town with my friends and they did a photo shoot☺

That didn't last long...

After the photo shoot and a burguer king I started to make  my  way home.
First of all, I was shocked that it was in 6th gear at 80kmh as I bought it with an airsal 70cc kit and a dellorto 21mm carb.
So then I wanted to see how fast i went... it didn't go past 101kmh I was a bit  upset as it was a lot slower than my old bike.
So about 3/4 way down the road to my house it made a massive loud bang, it sounded like a backfire wich is a bit wierd as 2 strokes don't really backfire.
I was almost home when I came to a stop sign...  (about 3 mins away from my house) I have never seen so much smoke come out from under a bike. I had no idea what was happening, so I went very slowly back  to my house... About 50 meters from my house it started to drop in power.
The bike stopped at the top of my drive way...
It took 3hours after I bought it for it to seize.
So I started to take the lemon apart...

R.I.P. Derbi

It was dead... One of the coolint tubes had popped and all the cooling fluid had came out.
Naturally the cylinder cooked the piston and it seized.

This was the pipe that blew up.

NO!!!

Now we had the new pipe fitted and ready to go I needed a new cylinder.
It didn't take long to arrive so I was SUPER happy until this happened:

It was the wrong cylinder... I ordered an euro 2 one as the preevious owner said it was... but it was not euro 2 it was an euro 3 motor...

So close.

The correct cylinder arrived the next week.
I fitted it with the supervision of my father.

After that we had some issues with the cooling system.
The previous owner had put the water pump in the wrong way around with silicone...
After we fixed that it all seemed to be ok.
